Maria has many years of experience working in the NHS and the private health sector. Her therapeutic work focuses on a variety of psychological difficulties including depression, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, OCD, social anxiety, generalised anxiety, health anxiety, panic disorder, specific phobias, and interpersonal difficulties.
Following extensive experience working with adults and young people with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), she has developed a specialist interest as a psychotherapist in Autism Spectrum Disorder, Asperger’s syndrome, Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). She uses adapted cognitive and behavioural interventions for depression and anxiety to meet the specific individual needs of clients with such conditions.
Maria has a leading role in the NHS for adapting psychological therapy for ASD and ADHD, and her role also involves supervision and training.
Maria has also developed an interest in perinatal depression and anxiety, and runs parenting groups or works individually with clients, focusing on developing positive family relationships.
